Chelsea Green makes a bold claim about her US Title reign as SmackDown goes on air

Chelsea Green made a very bold claim about her United States Championship reign right as SmackDown went on the air. She technically wasn't wrong in what she said.

Green has been riding a high in the last few weeks. At Saturday Night's Main Event last month, Chelsea made history when she defeated Michin to become the first-ever Women's US Champion. It was a deserved accolade after her incredible year.

Ahead of the first three-hour on SmackDown, Chelsea Green made the bold claim that she is now in her second year as the US Champion. While hilarious, it is technically true because she won the title at the tail end of 2024.

"In my 2nd year as US champion 🇺🇸 @wwe," she wrote on Instagram.

It will be interesting to see whether she holds on to that. It looks like the woman she beat to win the title will also be the woman she first defends against.

Michin has been on a roll on SmackDown. On January 3, she won over Green's ally, Piper Niven, seemingly solidifying her spot as the number one contender for the title.

It's going to be interesting to see how things play out and whether there is a stipulation for their rematch. Chelsea Green did not leave SmackDown a happy woman - and that's two weeks in a row now.
