Chelsea Green's spot in WWE history books was cemented when she became the inaugural Women's United States Champion last month. After kicking the new year off with a bang, Green seems to be headed for what could be one of the biggest programs in this era. Officials caused a stir with a recent angle with the WWE Universe buzzing.

WWE's Hot Mess was initially known as Megan Miller, Daniel Bryan's physical therapist. Green's first RAW appearance came on August 11, 2014, as Stephanie McMahon brought her out to confess that she and Brie Bella's husband were having an affair. Brie stormed the ring and slapped the future, Mrs. Cardona, as McMahon looked on. Bella then took her archnemsis down in the Yes Lock until officials took her away. Stephanie defeated Brie at SummerSlam, and Megan returned one year later for Tough Enough, billed as Chelsea Green.

RAW was held at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, that night. This is the location of tonight's SmackDown, where Green made her first televised defense of the Women's United States Champion. She defeated Michin in just under nine minutes. The former TNA Knockouts World Champion has been in the news this week after seemingly challenging The Bella Twins to try and dethrone her of the championship. The challenge and follow-up taunts came after Nikki Bella returned to RAW on the Netflix premiere and teased an in-ring return.

Green took to Instagram before tonight's SmackDown to share a clip from backstage at the Moda Center in Portland. The segment, which appears to involve the WWE, shows the blue brand superstar walking through the backstage area while staffers refer to the McMahon-Bella angle at the same venue, calling her "Megan" and claiming they haven't seen her since August 11, 2014. Chelsea captioned the segment with one word to fuel the rumors and speculation.

"Portland??," Chelsea Green wrote with the video below.

The official USA Network account on Instagram responded to Green's post, as they often interact with various WWE posts. The network commented that Green must have a doppelgänger who was slapped by Brie or something.

Chelsea Green secures big WWE SmackDown win

Tonight's WWE SmackDown saw Chelsea Green make her first successful title defense. The inaugural Women's United States Champion defeated Michin in the tournament finals to win the gold 27 days ago.

Green made a new enemy backstage before SmackDown, then retained over Michin in their SNME rematch. Michin took out Piper Niven at ringside due to interference, but then the champion retained with a handful of tights. After the match, Michin tried to attack Green, but Niven made the save. The heels retreated while taunting The HBIC.

Green has wrestled just twice since becoming champion at SNME. Her first match as champion took place on December 30 at the non-televised live event in Detroit, where she and Niven failed to dethrone Bianca Belair and Naomi of the Women's Tag Team Championship.
