Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently spoke about Chelsea Green advancing to the next round of the Women's United States Championship Tournament. The star was in action on SmackDown this week.
Chelsea Green was in a high-stakes triple-threat match against Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport. The winner advanced to the next round of the Women's United States Championship tournament. Belair had to leave the match halfway as Jade Cargill was attacked backstage. Green used this opening to hit the Unprettier on Davenport for the win.
On the latest episode of Smack Talk, Mantell felt Green was a star in the making. He noted that WWE may be helping her, but she's an all-out entertainer. He recalled the wedding angle in TNA from back in the day when Chelsea Green got stood up at the altar. He pointed out that was the moment he knew she was destined for great things.
"I'm just happy she won it. She's a star in the making. She's going out there; they may be directing her a little bit, but that's her. That's what she's going to do. I like the dress she wore out there. I did a wedding with her when I was with TNA when she got left standing at the altar. It was hilarious. We dragged it out as long as we could. She was all heartbroken, she was still in her dress two weeks later. She hadn't come out of the room. She was still crying... That got her over with me," the veteran said. [From 14:05 onwards]
Despite the win this week, Chelsea Green faces a long road to the semi-finals of the tournament, where she will face Bayley.
It will be interesting to see if Green can become the inaugural Women's United States Champion in WWE.
