CM Punk was always going to be the first one to come out on the Chicago episode of SmackDown - especially with the crowd chanting his name at the start of the show. In a long, multi-part segment, he gave a brutal response to Drew McIntyre.

By now, we're sure you're aware that CM Punk was directly responsible for Drew McIntyre not becoming World Heavyweight Champion at Clash at the Castle in Scotland. His interference cost McIntyre, who subsequently quit WWE.

CM Punk reminded fans in Chicago of the night of Money in the Bank 2011, where he promised to become WWE Champion and did so against all odds. He gave a brutal response to McIntyre, who he accused of taking his ball and going home.

It turned out to be an extremely interesting segment as he barely touched upon the topic of McIntyre. What took over the segment was the interaction he had with Paul Heyman, with the Wiseman warning Punk to leave for his own good.

Punk would also end up having an unexpected interaction with The Bloodline.

Punk vs. McIntyre is expected to happen at SummerSlam 2024, pending Punk's medical clearance. He should most likely be ready for in-ring action by then.
