CM Punk was advertised for Night One of the WWE Draft, although it quickly became clear that it was a post-show appearance. In his dark segment, he was interrupted by a major heel faction.
CM Punk didn't appear on SmackDown during the Night One edition of the Draft, nor was he drafted to any brand, something that will likely change this Monday. In a post-show appearance, Punk would provide a major injury update hinting at getting closer to his recovery date, admitting that he isn't 100% just yet.
However, he was interrupted by recently-turned faction Alpha Academy, with all four members appearing in the ramp. However, only leader and 5-time Tag Team Champion Chad Gable entered the ring to confront CM Punk.

It was clear as day that a dream match between the two was being teased. The dark segment was a perfect way to test the waters and see what sticks. Considering Gable had just turned heel as recently as a couple of weeks ago, there is a lot of potential to explore.
As for Punk, when he returns, presumably this summer if his recovery is according to the estimated period, he will likely be targeting Drew McIntyre, a man he has been feuding with ever since his injury.
But Gable vs Punk is certainly going to be an interesting one. It remains to be seen whether WWE will go down that route in the near future.
