CM Punk fighting major WWE star, not Drew McIntyre, at SummerSlam is possible, says veteran, The Scottish Warrior to interfere

CM Punk has yet to return to in-ring competition since WWE Royal Rumble. While many expect The Best in the World to return at SummerSlam to fight Drew McIntyre, a wrestling veteran thinks he should have another opponent.

The veteran in question is Tommy Dreamer. On the Busted Open podcast, the ECW legend suggested that Punk go head-to-head with Seth Rollins at The Biggest Party of the Summer. Punk initially feuded with Seth Rollins upon his comeback. The two were planned to square off at this year's Show of Shows, as Chief Content Officer Triple H disclosed in the WrestleMania XL: Behind the Curtain documentary. Nevertheless, those plans changed after The Best in the World got injured at the Men's Royal Rumble match.

Punk has since been feuding with Drew McIntyre. However, his and Rollins' paths crossed again at Money in the Bank as the 45-year-old interfered in the World Heavyweight Championship Triple-Threat match to cost The Scottish Warrior the title. Last Monday on RAW, The Visionary and Punk had a heated confrontation. While commenting on the segment, Dreamer proposed that the two superstars fight at SummerSlam, stating it would be a "money match." Meanwhile, he also suggested that McIntyre should interfere to cost Punk the match:

"If I could, I would. I would go with Punk and Rollins. It's a great match-up. I'd have Drew scr*w over Punk at SummerSlam," he said. [45:00 - 45:12]

Over the past few weeks, CM Punk has cost Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship twice, once at WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland and again at WWE Money in the Bank. Meanwhile, The Scottish Warrior viciously attacked The Best in the World and left him bloodied in his hometown of Chicago.

On his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, wrestling veteran Jim Cornette predicted that Triple H and his creative team are planning to have the match between Punk and McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam.

"It's looking like SummerSlam maybe a more sure thing now because they wouldn't be heating this thing up like this every week if they weren't pretty sure they could be selling this soon," he said.

While CM Punk facing McIntyre or Seth Rollins both seem like interesting matches, it would be interesting to see which one the company would go with for WWE SummerSlam.
