CM Punk is in the middle of his return to the ring while he waits to heal from the injuries he suffered earlier this year. While that is happening, it appears that the star's feud has a longer story behind it than anyone was aware of.
After Money in the Bank, Drew McIntyre got heated and was quite aggressive in the post-show area, where he even attacked security, raging at Punk for costing him his title opportunity once again. He accidentally struck Adam Pearce as well, leading to a suspension. Wade Barrett was on the scene when it happened.
Speaking on the Money in the Bank 2024 post-show, Wade Barrett made it clear that while the feud between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk was fresh now, they had started off with issues that actually originated a long time back.
"You don't remember the origin of this thing, but I do. It goes back way beyond what you have seen on TV. It goes back to a very young Drew McIntyre in this industry." (54:45 - 54:55)

Barrett went on to say that this went deeper than anyone could imagine, when it came to the feud.
"This goes way deeper than any of you can imagine - when it comes to McIntyre and the other individual I will not name." (55:06 - 55:14)
Wade Barrett is no longer going to speak about CM Punk and Drew McIntyre
The last time Wade Barrett spoke about CM Punk, he got carried away after the star cost McIntyre at Clash at the Castle and asked WWE to have him fired.
Unfortunately, his rant went a bit far and crossed some lines, which led to the company reprimanding and fining him. This time, after Money in the Bank, when asked about Punk, he made it clear that he was not going to be talking about him anymore.
"I will not address any more questions on this particular topic. You guys are dealing with this. I don't want to say this again guys. I have been reprimanded, I have been fined. You know my thoughts. I refer you to what I said three weeks ago. My thoughts haven't changed. I will not repeat them for obvious reasons." (52:07 - 52:30)
At this time, it remains to be seen if Punk addresses Barrett as well.
