CM Punk made headlines on WWE RAW this week after announcing his in-ring return date. And he did it with flair as the Chicago native disclosed that he and Drew McIntyre will finally square off at SummerSlam on August 3.

One thing appears to be a constant in Punk's entrances on RAW: the love he gets from fans and how he reciprocates it. The veteran also stops by the ringside to give a hand to ring announcer Samantha Irvin.

Taking to Instagram, The Straight Edge Superstar commented on WWE's recap post, stating that Samantha is the best at what she does:

"Best ring announcer in the world 🔥," CM Punk wrote.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Samantha Irvin is known for her incredible talent in announcing the names, weights, and billed hometowns of WWE Superstars. Ring announcer David Penzer praised Irvin for bringing something unique to the craft that no one else in her field had done before.

CM Punk openly discussed the changes in WWE today

One of CM Punk's biggest problems with WWE back in 2014 was the alleged lack of proper medical care for athletes, or rather, how the higher-ups pushed them to work through injury. In 2024, Punk sees things differently.

Speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, he revealed that the backstage environment is so different now than what it used to be under Vince McMahon's regime:

"You have to realize, to talk about the way the culture is now, you have to talk about the way the culture was when I got there and I showed up. It was very much shark tank, cutthroat, super-competitive, and everbody looked at me like, 'F*** you. Why are you here? You don't belong here'. And I was on television with nothing but top guys. Now, I think it is more laid back. I think that is probably the best way to say it. It is a relaxed atmosphere," he said.

His match against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam marks Punk's first televised singles bout since his return to WWE in November 2023, and it has all the makings of a blockbuster. Fans have been anticipating this match for six months now, ever since the Royal Rumble in January.

During his time away from the ring, the Chicago native has managed to show up now and again on television, and both he and Drew McIntyre were able to get fans excited for their first-time-ever match.
