CM Punk might not be wrestling every week for WWE right now but his presence has been good for business. A former WWE star is claiming that Punk leaving AEW might have cursed Tony Khan's company, comparing it to a famous sports curse that lasted for 86 years.

Khan famously "feared for his life" when Punk had an altercation with Jack Perry backstage at All In last year. The Second City Saint was fired days later and would return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames in a shocking move.

On a recent episode of the Gigantic Pop podcast, former WWE superstar Matt Morgan compared CM Punk to MLB legend Babe Ruth. He thought that the company would be cursed now after letting go of their best asset to their biggest rival.

"'I was scared for my life' will never stop haunting that company. That's gonna be the Babe Ruth, you know? The curse of the Bambino for the Red Sox when they traded away a pitcher named Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees as he went on to become the GOAT. Obviously, CM Punk was already a major star. Obviously, I'm not saying he wasn't but what a bumble. What a bumble, bumble move," Morgan said. [17:10 - 17:33]

Babe Ruth was a star pitcher and emerging hitter for the Boston Red Sox when his contract was sold to the New York Yankees in 1920. Ruth would become one of the greatest of all time in New York, winning four more World Series Championships.

The Red Sox would be under the 'Curse of the Bambino' for 86 years, failing to win the World Series until 2004. Ruth won three World Series rings in Boston in 1915, 1916, and 1918.

CM Punk interrupts AEW star's interview at San Diego Comic-Con

Several AEW and WWE stars were present at the San Diego Comic-Con recently. The "rivalry" between the promotions didn't stop CM Punk from interacting with a former AEW colleague.

In the video below, Punk would briefly interrupt Danhausen's interview with Denise Salcedo. The two would throw humorous jabs at each other before the WWE star made his exit.

Punk also recently recalled his most memorable match in AEW. He had nothing but praise for Darby Allin, who was the first opponent he faced since returning to pro wrestling after a seven-year hiatus.
