CM Punk will return to the WWE ring for the first time in nearly seven months when he competes against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee. However, a former WWE employee believes The Best in the World could reject losing clean to The Scottish Warrior.
The person in question is Tommy Carlucci. On the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, he addressed the possible finishes for Punk's match versus McIntyre, which RAW General Manager Adam Pearce made official last Monday on RAW. While the former employee pointed out that it could end in several ways, he claimed The Best in the World might reject the idea of losing clean to his opponent.
Carlucci pointed out that Punk might turn down a request from Triple H to put McIntyre over based on his history, attitude, personality, and past problems with Creative:
"I'm not sure Punk would like to lose clean. You know what I mean? That's his attitude and his personality too. If creative really, if Triple H really says, 'Hey, you gotta do this for Drew and help him out,' I'm not sure if he's gonna take the 1,2,3. I'm not sure. I don't know if would wanna lose clean. I don't know that, I just know from the past and him and his problems with Creative and stuff like that. So, maybe he's a changed man like everybody says he is. So, we all gotta see what happens," he said. [32:43 - 33:20]

Will Seth Rollins cost CM Punk his match against Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam?
While Seth Rollins had issues with Drew McIntyre, leading to their WrestleMania XL World Heavyweight Championship match, The Visionary was originally scheduled to fight CM Punk, with whom he had a heated rivalry, at the Show of Shows. Nevertheless, these plans were scrapped after The Best in the World suffered an injury during the Men's Royal Rumble match.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, former WWE writer Vince Russo predicted that Rollins will cost Punk the match at SummerSlam to set up a square-off between himself and the 45-year-old:
"I think Seth is gonna scr*w CM Punk and that's how…[we get Rollins vs. Punk]. But what are we gonna do with the singalong then? How are we not gonna have the singalong if Seth is a heel?" [48:09 onwards]
With Rollins' history with both Punk and McIntyre, it would be interesting to see if he will be the deciding factor in their match when he wears the striped black and white shirt.
