CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre III has the unenviable burden of carrying WWE Bad Blood's legacy. Their match will be contested inside the Hell in a Cell structure 27 years after the notorious concept's first rendition.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray highlighted how important the upcoming high-profile showdown is on account of Punk's RAW promo. The Straight Edge Superstar was not seen as his usual self — smiling and grateful to be there. Instead, he claimed that Drew McIntyre would bleed at Bad Blood.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ray stressed that the Hell in a Cell match needs to overdeliver, and moreover, blood needs to be used after Punk brought it up this past Monday:
"The name of the PLE is Bad Blood. It's a Hell in a Cell match and the babyface guaranteed us that there would be blood. You gotta kind of have deliver on this. When it comes to this cell match between Drew and Punk, I hope it just comes down to the two men and their fists and the cage, the cell as the gimmick."

He also added that WWE should not rely on gimmicks like toolboxes from under the ring, although a callback to the Strap Match would be something he can "tolerate":
"Okay fine, if there's a table under the ring, okay. If there's maybe a weapon, maybe like a call back like a strap since they just had a Strap Match or something, I could tolerate that, but I don't want to see personally as a fan, I don't want to see a bunch of gimmicks pulled out from under the ring. Don't pull out a toolbox. I hate that f*****g tool box." [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
The Hell in a Cell match could be the feud-ending fight between the bitter rivals. It is also likely that it closes the Bad Blood show at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 5.
Vince Russo blasts WWE for pointless CM Punk promo
Although CM Punk's mic work this past Monday has garnered praise from fans, former WWE writer Vince Russo pointed to the irrelevance of it at this particular point in time.
Russo noted that after what CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been through for nine months, The Straight Edge Superstar threatening The Scottish Warrior was not a big deal. Instead, he feels that the company is simply prolonging its storylines unnecessarily:
"After all that's been going on with these two, like what is that promo supposed to do that hasn't already been done? That's what I talk about bro, prolonging and prolonging. Why are we in a different place this week than we were in last week."
Watch the clip above as Vince Russo reviews the whole show. Russo also exposed CM Punk's promo by bringing up the latter's UFC past. Whether the Hell in a Cell match lives up to the hype bears watching.
