This week’s episode of WWE NXT saw CM Punk appear on the developmental brand. While the Stamford-based promotion had revealed that Punk would be on the show, the reason for it wasn’t specified. However, The Best in the World seemingly revealed why he was on the white and gold brand during an in-ring promo tonight.
CM Punk talked about NXT moving to the CW Network soon, with the first show on the new platform being held in his hometown of Chicago. However, revealing his reason for being in the arena this week, Punk said that while he loves watching the show, he had never been in the ring in NXT.
He noted that he had often sneaked in with a disguise to watch the show and had also been identified by some fans. But, stepping inside a NXT ring was still something he hadn’t done before.
“I watched NXT on the USA Network, and I see all you beautiful people, but I've never been in the ring, in this building, surrounded by the NXT fanatics, so, this is pretty cool. Now, a few of you, I recognize, you're here almost every week, and when I was rehabbing my tricep, I would try to sneak and watch the shows, and I would hide over here, and some of you would call me out,” said CM Punk. CM Punk was also going to announce his plans for NXT’s first episode in Chicago. He noted that he had already received the go-ahead from Shawn Michaels to do whatever he pleased. But, before he could make the announcement, he was interrupted by Roxanne Perez.
It is a known fact that The Prodigy has always held Punk in high regard. However, seeing that he had plans for NXT’s CW move, she automatically assumed that he wanted to make Giulia appear bigger than her.
Thus, she now apparently had an issue with the five-time WWE world champion and stated she should’ve been a Drew McIntyre fan instead. It would be interesting to see how Roxy deals with The Beautiful Madness on the premiere episode on CW after making enemies with the man in charge of the show.
