CM Punk has taken to social media to send out a cryptic message. The timing makes it seem like he's addressing the recent rumors about his WWE future.

It was reported by Ibou of WrestlePurists that The Second City Saint was trying to get his deal restructured from a monetary and longevity standpoint. The report mentioned that the RAW star wants to remain with the company forever and eventually take over NXT after hanging up his wrestling boots.

CM Punk has seemingly responded to the reports on his Instagram Story by writing that he used to defend himself against false accusations, but now, he just waits and observes who believes it, so he would know who to cut out first. He was quoting the rapper Ice-T.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

"I used to rush to defend myself against false accusations but now, I watch to see who believes it, so I know who to cut off first," he wrote.

If Punk was indeed referring to the report, it technically means that he's refuting the claim as false.

Former WWE personality Matt Camp thinks CM Punk vs. Gunther will happen at some point

The Voice of the Voiceless is set to face Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam while The Ring General will challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at the event. If Gunther wins the title, it's possible that the two stars could face each other one day.

Speaking on The Wrestling Matt podcast, former RAW Talk host Matt Camp thinks that the match will happen at some point.

"I liked in the video package with Gunther talking about other champions, he called CM Punk an afterthought. We're not going to Punk and Gunther yet. But, at some point, that will happen. And that's just [a] little nugget, that little kernel, that seed, let's just throw it out there. You can come back to that," he said.

This year's SummerSlam will be Punk's first singles match in WWE in over a decade.
