CM Punk has sent a message on his Instagram stories ahead of a massive clash with a fellow WWE Superstar. Punk is scheduled to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title inside a steel cage at an upcoming WWE live event.

This will be Punk's first-ever encounter with Gunther, and it'll take place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, the same venue where the Straight Edge Superstar returned to the company in 2023.

CM Punk took to his Instagram stories earlier today and posted a three-word message, reminding fans that he's set to face Gunther on December 29, 2024.

“This is tomorrow.”

Triple H and Nick Khan's talks that led to CM Punk's return

Earlier this year, WWE CCO Triple H spoke with Megan Morant and discussed Punk's WWE return. He revealed that Nick Khan asked him ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 if he could have a chat with Punk in regards to a possible return:

“Funny. If you had asked me a few weeks prior to that…there were rumors and all that stuff, but we had zero communication at that point. As we got closer to the event, there was a couple of conversations that happened between Punk and Nick Khan. Nick said to me, ‘Would you be opposed to me having a conversation and seeing where it goes?’ I said, ‘No. I have no issues there. My concern is, what’s the fit?’ It was still a long shot to me when I called Neil Lawi on the WWE music side to see about Cult Of Personality, just in case.” [H/T Fightful]

Punk will compete for a title for the first time since his epic WWE return last year. It's almost a lock that Gunther will retain the belt, but stranger things have happened at WWE's live events and house shows in the past.
