CM Punk vs. Seth "Freakin" Rollins was the rivalry everyone was hooked on from the get-go ever since the former WWE Champion returned to World Wrestling Entertainment in November 2023. Somewhere along the way, though, the most anticipated match turned from that to The Straight Edge Superstar stepping into the ring with Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre's issues with Punk escalated when the latter cost him the World Heavyweight Championship immediately after winning it at WrestleMania XL.
The Chicago native also interfered out of the blue on the following episode of RAW to assist Jey Uso in getting a win over The Scottish Psychopath. Since then, The Second City Saint has once again gone missing on television.
Calling out CM Punk for it at a recent live event in Belfast, Ireland, Drew McIntyre claimed that he is a better superstar simply because he shows up for work. The Scotsman even used Punk's taunt:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"I'm still better than Punk. I show up to work," McIntyre told the camera.

It's unclear where the creative team is heading with this narrative, as CM Punk is still healing up from the triceps injury he sustained in January at the Royal Rumble. A timeframe for his return is not disclosed yet, albeit many have speculated that it is bound to happen sooner rather than later, with the way WWE has handled the ongoing storyline.
Former WWE Champion responds to Drew McIntyre reaching out following release
Jinder Mahal was one among the few names who were released in the latest cuts by the Stamford-based promotion. The Maharaja was previously part of the lowbrow comedy trio 3MB, which also consisted of Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater. McIntyre has brought up the agonizing pain he felt being part of the faction as they were nothing more than enhancement talent.
Things changed eventually for both Mahal and McIntyre, as they went on to hoist the WWE Championship, more than once in the latter's case. The Scotsman reminded the Indian star that it is time to rebuild, and Mahal responded to it with grace:
"Comeback Kingz," The Maharaja wrote.
Meanwhile, The Scottish Warrior is reportedly working dates despite being injured. His direction remains unclear heading into Backlash France, as Jey Uso will be facing Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship and Punk is injured.
It is also worth noting that McIntyre has reportedly not renewed his WWE contract. Furthermore, his current agreement with the Stamford-based promotion will expire before Clash at the Castle: Scotland on June 15, 2024.
