CM Punk's run with AEW ended on a controversial note. The former WWE Champion was fired after multiple backstage incidents with other stars. The Best in the World also had heat with Hangman Page, and wrestling veteran Vince Russo believes the reason could be that Punk did not respect him.
The controversy between CM Punk and Adam Page started after the latter discussed Punk's real-life issues with Colt Cabana during a promo battle. This led to the Second City Saint going off on Hangman in an unscripted promo, ultimately leading to a backstage incident with The Elite.
While Seth Rollins also referenced the Colt Cabana incident on RAW last night, Vince Russo stated on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW that the Visionary had probably run the lines by CM Punk. The former WWE writer added that the main reason for Punk getting offended by Hangman's words was lack of respect:
"First of all, I think with the Page, I think Punk said that Page didn’t smarten him up to some of the stuff that he was gonna say, and I also bet you, though, it was a respect thing. I bet you he had zero respect for Hangman Page, none. Whereas he’s got a little history with Rollins. Rollins is probably smart enough to smarten him up in the back," Russo said. Rollins and Punk will get a chance to settle their differences inside the squared circle next week as WWE RAW will debut on Netflix. Multiple other big matches are also lined up for the show.
