Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is set for another title defense on SmackDown. The 39-year-old star will be facing Solo Sikoa on the blue brand next week.
Rhodes kicked off SmackDown this week and addressed his issues with The Bloodline, which consists of Solo, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu. Sikoa came out next flanked by his associates and challenged Cody to a title match. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made it official that the two stars would meet inside a Steel Cage next week on the blue brand's premiere on the USA Network.
WWE correspondent Byron Saxton caught up with Rhodes on SmackDown LowDown. Cody claimed he felt bad for Solo since he was in a faction with so many stars. The American Nightmare acknowledged it was a bad idea to challenge any of them because it would never be a fair contest and he would end up fighting the whole group.
"Byron, I almost have a soft spot for Solo Sikoa. He's a legacy wrestler in a faction where everybody's saying, 'No, I'm the guy.' Every fan is pointing out and saying, 'No, he's the guy.' I feel for Solo Sikoa. I don't know what I was thinking challenging any of them to a fight. The truth is if you're fighting any member of The Bloodline, you're fighting them all. So there is nothing more perfect, there is nothing more destination for this type match than a Steel Cage," Cody Rhodes said. [3:48 - 4:23]
