WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently addressed the possibility of Cody Rhodes squaring off against a massive legend at WrestleMania 41. He claimed The American Nightmare winning the potential match would be huge. However, it would not be a passing of the torch moment.
Earlier this year, John Cena announced that he would embark on a retirement tour in 2025. Since then, many top superstars, including Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, have expressed their desire to share the ring with the Leader of The Cenation before he hangs up his boots. On the recent edition of the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray claimed a match between The American Nightmare and Cena could happen.
The Hall of Famer pointed out that Rhodes beating Cena would not be a passing of the torch moment from the 16-time World Champion to The American Nightmare. Bully Ray explained that he believes the Franchise Player no longer has the torch. Instead, it now belongs to Roman Reigns:
"I don't think Cena has been around enough for people to still believe he carries the torch. I don't know, I think the torch belongs to Roman already. I think Cody defeating John Cena at WrestleMania would be a huge win for Cody and it is not necessarily a passing of the torch moment, but an endorsement moment of, 'Yes, you are the guy.' I know what you're about to say, isn't that passing of the torch? Roman's got the torch," he said. [From 16:52 to 17:27]

Another WWE SmackDown star wants to face John Cena
During an interview with Wide World of Sports, former WWE Tag Team Champion Grayson Waller called out John Cena, disclosing his desire to face the 47-year-old legend on his retirement tour.
Waller explained that he wants to be tested by Cena inside the squared circle and show that he belongs, dubbing the Leader of the Cenation a "measuring stick":
"I've had the opportunity to be in there with him on the microphone, but I've never had the opportunity to be tested by him in the ring. And I think that's what Cena does: test people. He's a measuring stick. You go against John Cena; you show that you belong. So many guys have gone in there and afterwards gone on to big things because they passed the test. And I want the hottest test, and I think that is it," he said.
According to WrestleVotes on a live Q&A with Bill Apter on Backstage Pass, Cena's retirement tour will start on the first episode of RAW on Netflix on January 6. It would be interesting to see with whom he will share the WWE ring in the following 12 months.
