SmackDown was pre-taped for the July 26 episode, but Cody Rhodes' message didn't go unnoticed. After the show ended, he endorsed an eight-year-old tag team for the incredible effort.
The actual main event of the taping was the Tag Team Gauntlet match won by The Bloodline's Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu. They ultimately eliminated The Street Profits to earn a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship. It was not the main event on TV, and there were several segments and another match after. The show was structured differently due to being pre-taped.
Although The Street Profits fell short in the Gauntlet match, Cody Rhodes made sure to praise the duo of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford after SmackDown went off the air:
'With people like this who never forget a moment like you had tonight. I mean, literally, the sky is the absolute limit. Let's hear it one more time for The Street Profits!" Cody Rhodes said. (9:44-10:00)
Officially forming in 2017, The Street Profits have been together for eight years now, and rumors of Montez Ford getting a singles push have not really materialized. Nobody knows what's next for them after rumors that Bobby Lashley is finished with WWE.
Unfortunately, their partnership with Bobby Lashley failed to take off. Hopefully, bigger things will come for the duo in the months and years ahead.
As for The Bloodline, they will first look to add the tag team gold back to the faction before the Undisputed WWE Championship possibly returns to it.
