WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has extended an invitation for a former World Champion to make his return at WrestleMania 41. The wrestling legend has made many sporadic appearances over the years despite retiring from in-ring action two decades ago.
After coming out of retirement to face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38, Stone Cold Steve Austin was rumored to be part of this year's Show of Shows in Philadelphia. However, due to his prior commitments, The Texas Rattlesnake could not be a part of the show. The Attitude Era legend was instead replaced by The Undertaker, who hit The Rock with a Chokeslam and helped Cody Rhodes defeat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
During Cody Rhodes' recent interview with Adrian Hernandez at ComplexCon, it was revealed that The American Nightmare had invited Steve Austin to be at the upcoming edition of The Showcase of The Immortals. Cody Rhodes pointed out that the veteran isn't far from Vegas and could be helicoptered to the show. He further praised Steve Austin.
"He’s also not far. I mean, we could helicopter him Great American Bash style. I think Stone Cold Steve Austin being, you know, we’re talking inside here, but this babyface individual, and we’re back in this unbelievable era where there are good guys in the business again. Here was the ultimate babyface who had the company on his back. I just would like him to be around to see how we’re doing. I want him to know, like, 'Hey, we’re doing this Friday, we’re doing this Saturday,' and I hope he’s proud of all of us because he really has set the table for us, him and The Rock, in a way that we can eat so fruitfully. So I’d love for Steve to do anything," Cody Rhodes said. [From 4:22 onwards]
