Cody Rhodes has been a fighting champion since capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL. After his victory over Logan Paul at King and Queen of the Ring, a former WWE host thinks he must put his title on the line against his former mentor.

The superstar in question is Randy Orton. The Viper had a chance to earn a shot at Rhodes' title at SummerSlam when he went head-to-head against Gunther in the final of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament. However, he lost to The Ring General. Nevertheless, former RAW Talk host Matt Camp believes Orton should still be The American Nightmare's challenger at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

Orton and Rhodes have a long history together. The Viper was The American Nightmare's mentor during their time as part of The Legacy between 2008 and 2010. On his The Wrestling Matt Show podcast, Camp claimed the two former teammates should clash at SummerSlam despite his loss to The Ring General at King and Queen of the Ring:

"I still think we gotta get to Randy and Cody at SummerSlam regardless of what happened at King of the Ring. I don't see a really good SummerSlam-level opponent for Cody, especially on the heel side, and I think that's where Randy is gotta go. Maybe they do the first match with them both being babyfaces and then the second match maybe then Randy is the heel, you know," he said. [46:20 - 46:40]

Ex-WWE star says Randy Orton should not challenge Cody Rhodes unless The Viper turns heel

Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are currently two of the top babyfaces on the blue brand. Hence, wrestling veteran Matt Morgan believes the two should not square off unless The Viper turns heel.

The former WWE Superstar claimed on the Gigantic Pop podcast that a match between The American Nightmare and the 14-time world champion, while both are babyfaces, would be boring:

"I don't know. It's such a boring match. That's gonna be such a boring match, especially with two babyfaces. Unless Randy becomes and a**hole heel, which is what he's best at, I'm not gonna be emotionally invested in it, I'm sorry. 'But they have history...' Yes, they did when Randy Orton was a pri*k, ripping urinals off the wall, trying to pop Cody. Yes, that back then, they were," he said.

Many believe Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton's paths would eventually cross. It would be interesting to see if that would happen at WWE SummerSlam, as Matt Camp desires.
