WWE fans continue to speculate about Cody Rhodes' opponent at WrestleMania 41. WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested an unexpected top RAW star could fight The American Nightmare at the Show of Shows.
CM Punk is currently feuding with Seth Rollins on the red brand. The two superstars will square off on the premiere episode of RAW on Netflix on January 6. Meanwhile, Rhodes is in a heated rivalry with his former friend Kevin Owens. He will put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against The Prizefighter at Royal Rumble.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts claimed Punk and Rhodes could clash at next year's Show of Shows despite being on different paths right now. He recalled the two superstars having a war of words earlier this year:
"There was just this magic and this tension between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. And I feel like with The Bloodline stuff, with the Rollins and Punk stuff, with the Drew and Punk stuff, people have forgotten how magical that moment was between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. And we will get back there at some point. And I think it's just as much a potential WrestleMania main event as anything else is, quite frankly," he said. [27:30 - 28:00]
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Cody Rhodes recently addressed his WWE future
In a recent interview with 2 Bears, 1 Cave, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes discussed his future as a full-time superstar. He revealed that he does not intend to remain so for many years.
The 39-year-old pointed out he would continue to perform on the highest level over the next six years before transitioning into a part-timer by the age of 45:
"Well, [I'm] 39 now. I'd say my contract is running till, I don't want to wrestle full-time definitely past 45. Drop in? For sure. Keep myself in shape. [But still be involved in the world?] I could see that," he said.
The American Nightmare also expressed interest in pursuing an acting career in movies and TV shows. It would be interesting to see if he will follow in the footsteps of superstars like The Rock and John Cena.
