Cody Rhodes provided a massive update on his in-ring status during the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. He disclosed what WWE had prohibited him from doing until the Royal Rumble.

The American Nightmare was assaulted by Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event last month after their Undisputed WWE Championship match. The latter failed to win the title, so he nailed his former friend with a Package Piledriver in the ring. Randy Orton is still out of action after taking the banned move from The Prizefighter.

Kevin Owens also walked away with the Winged Eagle belt, even though he didn't win it. Cody Rhodes returned to WWE last week on SmackDown and issued a challenge. He asked Nick Aldis to make a ladder match between him and KO for the Undisputed Title at the Royal Rumble.

Even though Cody will compete at the upcoming premium live event, he opened this week's episode of SmackDown and revealed that he's still not medically cleared to compete. This means that WWE won't allow him to have a match until the Rumble.

Cody Rhodes was attacked by Kevin Owens during the segment, and multiple WWE officials separated the two men.
