Cody Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since WrestleMania 40. However, an analyst with the Stamford-based company, Peter Rosenberg, suggested The American Nightmare could soon lose the title to a former Universal Champion.
Rhodes had a close friendship with Kevin Owens for several months on SmackDown. However, The Prizefighter recently turned on The American Nightmare and attacked him in the parking lot following the latter's alliance with Roman Reigns at Bad Blood. The two stars are now seemingly headed towards having a heated rivalry on the blue brand.
While Rhodes defeated Owens earlier this year in an Undisputed WWE Championship match at Bash in Berlin, many expect the two to square off again for the title soon. Speaking on his Cheap Heat podcast, Rosenberg claimed Owens could be the one to dethrone the champion.
The 45-year-old commented on his co-host's prediction that The Prizefighter would end Rhodes' reign stating that it would be believable. He pointed out that the company may have big plans for Owens.
Top WWE star blasted, compared to Winnie the Pooh RIGHT HERE
"The only reason I would think it's believable is, if you're gonna have the scene of Kevin Owens beating the hell of your top guys, why do that if there is no bigger play for Kevin Owens? Him doing that for no reason wouldn't make sense," he said. [10:45 - 11:01]

Kevin Owens will cost Cody Rhodes his match at Crown Jewel, says WWE analyst
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts discussed Kevin Owens' turn on Cody Rhodes ahead of the latter's Crown Jewel Championship match against World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in Saudi Arabia on November 2.
The 41-year-old predicted that The Prizefighter would interfere to cost The American Nightmare the clash, leading to a match between them at Survivor Series: WarGames.
"So, for sure Gunther's winning that big giant title. Kevin Owens is going interfere, and then yeah, that leads us to KO vs. Cody at Survivor Series," he said.
Roberts recently claimed Rhodes' feud with Owens was just a stepping stone for an inevitable Randy Orton turn on The American Nightmare. It would be interesting to see if that would happen soon.
