Cody Rhodes was a victim of a heinous attack by Kevin Owens at the end of Saturday Night's Main Event 2024. The attack has put his immediate WWE future in jeopardy. While Cody is not expected to return to TV anytime soon, his next appearance has been confirmed for an upcoming BBC show next year.

The American Nightmare stood tall after retaining his Undisputed WWE Title against Owens as the show went off the air. However, what transpired after that left everybody in the crowd stunned. KO hit a Package Piledriver on Cody out of nowhere and then walked out with the latter's Winged Eagle version of the Undisputed WWE Championship. He also came to blows with Triple H on the entrance ramp.

Later WWE issued a statement on X, confirming that Cody had been diagnosed with "axial compression of the cervical spine" and ''cervical strain with spasm.'' Though only time will tell when he returns to TV, the reigning world champion has been announced for BBC's CBeebies Bedtime Stories, where he'll be reciting a short story on January 1, 2025.

WWE veteran Vince Russo points out a big issue with Cody Rhodes' beatdown

On the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, the former WWE writer mentioned that it made little sense to show Cody's beatdown by Kevin Owens after Saturday Night's Main Event ended. Vince Russo claimed the angle could have drawn more eyeballs to the promotion's product if it had been aired for fans.

"So, bro, we have Saturday Night's Main Event, which was a total, total disappointment. No way they got new viewers from that show. They go off the air without showing the best part, which was Kevin Owens turning on Cody Rhodes. That wasn't even on the main show. He attacked him; got heat on him after the match. The show ended with Cody Rhodes up with a period at the end of the sentence, and all these shenanigans took place on social media," he said.

Even though it wasn't shown on TV, the post-show angle generated tremendous buzz and went viral on WWE's social media platforms.
