Cody Rhodes completed his story to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL this year. Notably, this was the first time someone bagged the title in his family. The American Nightmare often talks about how he tries to incorporate his father Dusty Rhodes’s ways to achieve new heights. He opened up about a huge difference between him and The American Dream.
Cody Rhodes recently recorded the first episode of his ‘What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast. He invited WWE Women’s Champion Bayley as the first guest on the show.
Speaking to her about a particular incident involving the legendary Dusty Rhodes, The American Nightmare noted how his father took a genuine interest in other people’s lives. On the contrary, he said he couldn’t do the same and recalled an incident when Dusty Rhodes entertained a homeless man's dream of becoming an astronaut.
“He was fully in, like, 'yeah, we'll look into it and going on and on. I was like, that's just the most positive... Yeah, very sweet... I have a hard time whenever somebody is telling me something that they wanna do, especially in wrestling. There's so many people talk about what they wanna do and their goals. I never… I tell people all the time, ‘I don’t wanna ruin your dreams. If that's your dream, then yeah, go get it,’” Cody said.

While Cody Rhodes may lack his father's positive attitude, he possesses many good qualities to be WWE’s top babyface right now. However, he may have to put up a fight in the near future to keep his good-guy identity intact.
Cody Rhodes’ babyface character to face a threat from WWE?
Cody Rhodes and his babyface character were recently discussed on the July 11, 2024, episode of the ‘Keepin' it 100’ podcast.
Speaking about it, Konnan and Disco Inferno noted that the Stamford-based promotion may try to turn him heel, but Rhodes won’t agree to it.
“Yeah, he's gonna fight it. He wants to be an ultimate babyface,” noted Konnan. [6:13 - 6:15]
An antagonistic version of Rhodes was recently seen at Madison Square Garden, where he retaliated against the WWE security officials. Inferno noted that changing characters may cost him a hit in his merch sales. Thus, he would be careful not to rock the boat.
It would be interesting to see if The American Nightmare actually becomes a dark, nightmarish character in the future.
