Cody faced The Tribal Chief for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at The Showcase of The Immortals. While the odds were stacked against him in the Bloodline Rules Match, Rhodes managed to come out on top after little assistance from multiple names, including The Undertaker. Cody's victory was celebrated by his peers alike, as many rushed down to the ring to congratulate him.

The recently released WrestleMania XL documentary showed that Cody Rhodes also received tremendous support after making his way backstage. The former AEW EVP shared a heartfelt moment with Becky Lynch, The Undertaker, and Sami Zayn, among others.

Cody Rhodes was not supposed to face Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 40 originally

While Cody Rhodes may have ended up with the biggest victory of his career at WrestleMania 40, The American Nightmare was not slated to face The Tribal Chief as per initial plans.

The WrestleMania XL: Behind the Curtain documentary provided an insight into what went on behind the screens before The Show of Shows. It was revealed in the documentary that the company initially planned to pit The Rock against Roman Reigns. However, they ended up pivoting due to fan pressure, which eventually led to The Great One turning heel after decades.

The SmackDown Superstar is once again involved in a feud with The Bloodline. However, the heel faction is very different from the last time, as none of the OG members are a part of the group. Cody will team up with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens to take on three members of The Bloodline 2.0 in a six-man tag team match at WWE Money in the Bank.
