In a moment that generated a thunderous response from the crowd at SummerSlam 2024, Roman Reigns helped Cody Rhodes retain the Undisputed WWE Championship by taking out Solo Sikoa. Now, The American Nightmare has addressed the unexpected turn of events in the press conference following the event.
Cody and Sikoa headlined The Biggest Party of The Summer in front of a raucous Cleveland crowd. The "Bloodline Rules" match featured plenty of outside interference from names such as Jacob Fatu, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. However, WWE preserved the best return for the last when Roman Reigns came out and attacked Solo.
The American Nightmare was left surprised as he had dethroned Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania XL a few months back. Cody soon took advantage of the situation and pinned Solo Sikoa to retain his gold. Following the show, Rhodes addressed The Original Tribal Chief's return.
Cody stated that he owed Roman Reigns for helping him and also revealed that he had not been in touch with the latter since WrestleMania XL.
"I don't want to fill the room with positive platitudes and hot air about the 'real Tribal Chief' Roman Reigns returning, but without a doubt, that probably would have gone a different way. I probably wouldn't be sitting here with the North Star of the industry had it not been for Roman. So he's certainly... I've got quite a list of people who I owe one, I might owe him more than one. And again, no love lost, that's as much of a shoot as it gets. There's a unique relationship I suppose. Haven't seen or spoken since WrestleMania," Cody Rhodes said. [H/T WrestleTalk]
It would be exciting to witness the rivalry between Roman and Solo now that The Original Tribal Chief has returned.
What does WWE have in store for Roman Reigns?
It is safe to say that Roman Reigns' blockbuster return at WWE SummerSlam 2024 has marked the beginning of another chapter in the compelling Bloodline Saga. There is little doubt that The Head of the Table would want to reclaim his throne from Solo Sikoa, who took over the heel faction amid his absence in the last few months.
It would also be interesting to see if Roman Reigns receives help from Paul Heyman and The Usos, who were the founding members of The Bloodline alongside him. Moreover, even though The Original Tribal Chief helped Cody Rhodes retain his title, it would not be surprising to see him go after the gold down the line as well.
