Cody Rhodes took away the throne from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL and has since racked up wins over major WWE names such as AJ Styles and Logan Paul. He is currently embroiled in a reignited rivalry with The Bloodline, although all of the faction members barring Solo Sikoa are new to the game.
A possible showdown with his mentor Randy Orton in the not-too-distant future is one that gets fans salivating, especially the longtime fans. But there is one match that the whole world has been anticipating since the RAW after WrestleMania: The American Nightmare vs. The Final Boss The Rock.
During a recent sit-down interview for The Pivot Podcast, Rhodes was point-blank asked when fans can expect the first-time-ever clash of generations. He admitted to being unaware of an exact date owing to the legend's busy schedule, but the Undisputed WWE Champion is hopeful that it will happen sometime within the next year.
Here's what Cody Rhodes said:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"So Rock told me he'd see me when he comes back. My head has been on a swivel everyday since the day after WrestleMania. For when this 'Final Boss', as Rock goes by now, when that music hits, I'll be in 100% in the same spot I was and I'll be ready for him. [...] If I could give you a guess, I feel like...I hope it happens in the next year." [From 51:16 to 52:00]
Rhodes also inserted a jab at The Rock who takes time to reconnect with fans upon return but is also simultaneously in a three-month training program (ahead of WrestleMania XL). He added that he will also be "dialed in" when The Final Boss resurfaces for his belt.
Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens will join forces at WWE Money in the Bank
Cody Rhodes will not be defending his Undisputed WWE Championship this Saturday night as he has a score to settle with Solo Sikoa. But then so does Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, who have been feuding with The Bloodline for months on end.
The trio will join forces to take on Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and/or the faction's latest addition, Jacob Fatu. This will be the first time Rhodes and Orton team up since a one-night-only reunion on RAW in 2022.
With some comments being made online that The Viper will strike to set up a SummerSlam main event contest, at this point one can only call it wishful thinking of fans. Needless to say, it will be an exciting few weeks ahead in WWE.
