Cody Rhodes recently disclosed what Roman Reigns told him before they fought for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL.
The Tribal Chief held the Universal Championship for over 1,300 days before losing it to The American Nightmare on night two of this year's WrestleMania XL. The Bloodline Rules match saw interference from several superstars and legends, including The Rock, John Cena, and The Undertaker.
In a recent interview with SI Media podcast, Rhodes recalled his feelings heading into the championship match, revealing what the leader of The Bloodline told him before they engaged in battle:
"I knew from the moment I did my entrance that we were in some rare air. I knew then because there was a feeling, and not unlike the feeling at WrestleMania 39, there was a feeling just in the air of the potential change and the big fight feel that sometimes when we say it on commentary, there's not a big fight feel, but it's a great little way to describe or maybe perceive something. This was very much a big fight feel," he said.

The American Nightmare added:
"And it kinda continued and snowballed into Roman and I are looking at each other in the ring and you can see it on camera, but he said: 'One more dance.' And I thought, 'Oh, we are cruising into something. And he just came so dialed in and so prepared, just outstanding. I guess the way to put it is it felt like everything that was happening hit. Everything that was happening was succeeding and that's just such a beautiful piece of music to write because that audience. I'll forever have some link to Philly." [4:53 - 6:09]
Cody Rhodes will defend his title at WWE Backlash France
After finishing his story and capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL, The American Nightmare is set to defend it for the first time at the upcoming Backlash France premium live event.
Cody Rhodes' challenger will be determined this Friday on SmackDown when LA Knight squares off against AJ Styles in the final of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Eliminator Tournament. The two superstars previously battled at WrestleMania XL in a match that ended in victory for The Megastar.
Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently addressed the possibility of Rhodes facing LA Knight at Backlash France, disclosing that he believes it might not be a good idea. It would be interesting to see if The Megastar will defeat The Phenomenal One again to earn another shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
