Cody Rhodes shared that a recent segment on WWE SmackDown could be the beginning of a new creative direction for the company. The American Nightmare will be in action this Saturday at Bad Blood in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cody Rhodes appeared on The Pat McAfee Show today and spoke about his meeting with Roman Reigns at Georgia Tech recently on SmackDown. The two stars were once bitter enemies, but have put their issues aside for the time being to work together at Bad Blood.

During his conversation with Pat McAfee, Cody Rhodes stated that his promo last month with Reigns could be the direction the industry is going moving forward.

"We're going up in terms of our public spotlight. College football, NFL, those are the biggest things on the planet. They really are. We're moving up and trying to get in that heir. And if you know anything about what we are doing, we're not far off. And Netflix is definitely a big part of that, this is a huge deal for Netflix, it is a huge deal for WWE. I'm just excited that we kind of get to ride this new wave. And RAW being two hours again, the content being perhaps tailored a little differently. What you saw with Roman and I, that package, that might be a direction the industry is going," Rhodes said.

Real-life Bloodline member comments on Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns' promo on WWE SmackDown

Afa Anoa'i Jr. recently shared his thoughts on the promo between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at Georgia Tech on WWE SmackDown last month.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda Wrestling, Anoa'i Jr. noted that he and Reigns used to be football players. He added that they played against each other back in the day and the promo brought back those memories.

"Once upon a time back when we were in high school and college, myself and Roman Reigns were both Division 1 football players. I was a US Army All-American. I chose to play ball [at] University of Connecticut, Roman went to Georgia Tech. Our freshman year, 2004, Yukon played at Georgia Tech. So it was Anoa'i vs. Anoa'i back in 2004 in that stadium. That just got put back on the map because of the promo."

The American Nightmare seemingly dropped a major hint about a potential return today at WWE Bad Blood. It will be fascinating to see what the promotion has planned for the premium live event this Saturday night.
