Cody Rhodes showed up on WWE SmackDown this week to help Kevin Owens fend off A-Town Down Under. The two stars had an interesting interaction after the brawl ended.
Even though KO and The American Nightmare have been on the same side for a long time, they are scheduled to face each other at Bash in Berlin later this month for the prestigious Undisputed WWE Championship. Owens didn't want the title shot at first because he felt that he didn't deserve it, but Cody was the one who insisted.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, Kevin Owens wrestled Grayson Waller in a one-on-one match. During the bout, The Prizefighter nailed the latter with a Stunner followed by the Pop-up Powerbomb to get the victory. A-Town Down Under surrounded Kevin Owens with steel chairs after the match.
However, Cody Rhodes showed up with his title and helped Owens fend off the heel tag team. After the attack, KO was spotted in the ring holding a chair and looking at Cody while his back was turned. For a few seconds, it seemed like KO was going to hit him with it, but he dropped the chair instead.
Kevin Owens then picked up the title and held it for a few seconds before handing it back to Cody Rhodes. KO brought back the Pop-up Powerbomb this week and he was about to perform a Powerbomb onto the apron. It'll be interesting to see whether all of this will lead to a heel turn ahead of their big title match.
