WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has often used blood during his matches across various wrestling promotions. The American Nightmare recently shared his opinion on its use in sports entertainment.

The Stamford-based company has reduced using blood over the years. However, Cody Rhodes can be seen as an exception. The 39-year-old was busted open earlier this year during a vicious assault from The Rock. He was also seen bleeding during his title match against AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle: Scotland this past weekend.

During a recent appearance on The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, Rhodes stated that blood is a part of sports entertainment and professional wrestling. The Undisputed WWE Champion mentioned that he is the first superstar to have blood designed on one of his merchandise t-shirts. He further recalled getting busted open by The Final Boss on RAW ahead of WrestleMania XL.

"It’s very fun to see. Blood is part of sports entertainment, part of pro wrestling. It's in a weird way, I don’t mean to sound toxic at all, it’s nice to see it celebrated in the packaging and in this moment. And actually, I gave myself a nice pat on the back for recently going into WrestleMania, I was the first WWE shirt that got a little blood on it as well. They had done the skull with a little cut up top after Rock beat the hell out of me in the rain," he said. [From 21:20 to 21:53]

Cody Rhodes teases a potential match with wrestling veteran

The Rock made a surprise return to WWE earlier this year. The Hollywood star turned heel and was involved in an intriguing rivalry with Cody Rhodes, which led to him teaming up with Roman Reigns to face The former AEW star and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL.

During a recent conversation with Esquire, Cody Rhodes claimed he had gifted Rolex watches to the main-event performers of Night One of The Show of Shows this year. The former AEW star also addressed the speculations that the veteran had returned the watch on RAW after WrestleMania. Rhodes further teased a potential match against the former World Champion in the future.

"So, it’s highly suspected that what The Rock put back in my hand the day after WrestleMania was the watch I had given him – the WrestleMania XL commemorative watch with the logo on and the custom dial, and for him a few extra links, because he's got a big boy wrist. And that return of said item. I don’t want to use the word ‘trouble’, but it spells something brewing in the future. I don’t know, with his schedule, if he’s ever going to come back [to WWE]. But I do believe he will. And I believe he'll come looking for me. And I'll be right where he left me," he said.

After the "I Quit" Match at the Clash at the Castle: Scotland, The Bloodline attacked Cody Rhodes. Thankfully for the champion, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens ran out to make the save. It will be interesting to see if the Undisputed WWE Champion will feud with the heel faction in Roman Reigns' absence.
