Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is the top babyface in the Stamford-based company. However, a wrestling veteran believes he could turn heel in a potential feud against Randy Orton.
The Viper has a long history with Rhodes since they were teammates in The Legacy. After helping the champion fend off an attack from The Bloodline at Clash at the Castle: Scotland, the 44-year-old seemingly stared at the Undisputed WWE Championship, leading many to predict a potential clash between the two former partners. Wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. believes the 38-year-old could be the heel in that potential feud.
On the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast, the 65-year-old claimed that Rhodes' appearance fits the underdog role more than a heel against bigger opponents. However, he could turn and take a shortcut in a potential storyline with Orton.
"I mean Cody's not a little guy but, you know, at 220 lb, you know, when you're out there with 250-275 lb guys, you look the part. From the psychology perspective, absolutely he can do it [turn heel]. I mean, he could do it with a guy like Randy Orton. If Randy were to ever challenge him, which you know is gonna happen at some point in time, it would be really like a way for him to hold on to the title to try to fend Randy off," he said.

The wrestling veteran believes Orton looks more devastating than Roman Reigns was. He pointed out that Rhodes could reach a level of frustration that would lead him to take a shortcut to hold on to the title.
"Because, frankly, to me, he's the most solid, impressive, got all the right things, and the biggest he's ever been that his things are so good in the ring that he's more devastating than Roman Reigns was. As great as Roman looked, everything else, Randy's stuff looks like he could rip his head off and throw him out, you know, throw him in the trash can. So, to imagine Cody reaching some level of frustration that he has to take a shortcut to hold on to the thing and elevate Randy to a crazy frenzy of everybody really wanting him to beat Cody, it could happen," he added. Cody Rhodes could turn heel at WrestleMania 41, thinks WWE analyst
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst, Sam Roberts, discussed the possibility of Cody Rhodes turning heel. He disclosed that he would like The American Nightmare to go down a "very, very dark road and become a heel who doesn't feel like he did anything wrong."
Meanwhile, he suggested the Undisputed WWE Champion could turn at WrestleMania 41 after facing The Rock. The Final Boss promised Rhodes to go after him upon his return from his ongoing hiatus. Meanwhile, The Final Boss recently teased a massive match at next year's Show of Shows.
"The Rock did an interview this week or last week and again brought up the Road to WrestleMania 41 and what they're on the precipice of. And maybe the answer is The Rock versus Roman Reigns. But maybe the answer is The Rock versus Cody Rhodes. Either way, when The Rock returns, it'll be a year removed. The Rock hasn't been a part of all this. Cody Rhodes has been a part of the grind, and what has the grind done to Cody Rhodes? Even if we don't see the final straw snap until WrestleMania, I'd love for Cody to go down a very, very dark road and become a heel who doesn't feel like he did anything wrong," he said.
Rhodes seemingly committed a heelish act at Clash at the Castle: Scotland when he hit AJ Styles with the steel steps after their "I Quit" Match had already ended. It would be interesting to see if that is the beginning of a shift in the Undisputed WWE Champion's character.
