Cody Rhodes has arguably been the top babyface in WWE since his return in 2022. However, WWE analyst Sam Roberts has claimed that The American Nightmare could turn heel at WrestleMania 41 after going head-to-head against a returning legend.
The legend in question is The Rock. The Final Boss feuded with The American Nightmare ahead of WrestleMania XL. On Night One of The Show of Shows, The Great One teamed up with Roman Reigns to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match. He also attempted to help The Tribal Chief defeat the 38-year-old the following night.
However, the Hollywood megastar failed in his pursuits as The Undertaker took him out with a Chokeslam. Before going on hiatus, The People's Champion asserted to the current Undisputed WWE Champion that their story wasn't over.

During a recent episode of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts pointed out that The Rock could be Rhodes' opponent at WrestleMania 41. Meanwhile, he suggested that The American Nightmare could turn heel that night. The analyst pointed out that the champion showed a dark side of his character for the first time at Clash at the Castle when he attacked AJ Styles after the match ended.
"The Rock did an interview this week or last week and again brought up the Road to WrestleMania 41 and what they're on the precipice of. And maybe the answer is The Rock versus Roman Reigns. But maybe the answer is The Rock versus Cody Rhodes. Either way, when The Rock returns, it'll be a year removed,'' he said.
Roberts added:
''The Rock hasn't been a part of all this. Cody Rhodes has been a part of the grind, and what has the grind done to Cody Rhodes? Even if we don't see the final straw snap until WrestleMania, I'd love for Cody to go down a very, very dark road and become a heel who doesn't feel like he did anything wrong.'' [8:33-9:23]

In a recent interview with ESPN, The Final Boss teased a massive match at WrestleMania 41. Meanwhile, he opened up about his tag team match against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at this year's Show of Shows.
The Rock disclosed that he almost broke character and smiled after receiving a Cody Cutter during the match. The WWE legend explained that he was impressed by how he and The American Nightmare perfected the timing despite never practicing the move together before.
"We connected with that big Cody Cutter off the ropes, which required insane f***ing timing, which we had never done before. We were like, all right, we have some confidence in our abilities here. When he hit me with that and the way the crowd responded, I remember laying there and just being so f***ing happy, but I don't want to laugh or smile," he said. [H/T: ESPN]
