Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has reacted to an announcement by a top star, who has hinted at a huge next step for his wrestling career. The WWE star also had something to say.

Matt Cardona was released by WWE years ago, but he has only become more renowned as a performer with each passing year, with his popularity touching heights no one had expected it to. As the Death Match King or later the Indie God, the star has taken over the wrestling scene outside the company, making appearances everywhere.

In an announcement video, he talked about how it was time for him to "start over." The video also featured him in WWE as Zack Ryder and each milestone of his career.

"This was just supposed to be my comeback from injury video, but it’s so much more than that…It’s my career video…My LIFE video. The office has counted me out. The fans have counted me out. I’ve even counted myself out! But I always come back. It’s not over until I quit…and I’ll never quit! I am “The Complete” Matt Cardona. If you’ve ever supported me, please share this video."

Fans drowned out a popular wrestler with 'She's a racist' chants recently

Cody Rhodes, who is a known friend of Cardona, reposted the video and also talked about how he had owned the indie scene. He also then hinted at what was next for the star, saying that he could not wait to see his next move.

"“Complete.” He’s owned that scene, can’t wait to see what my friend does next."

Cody Rhodes had much the same trajectory as Matt Cardona

While Cardona has done it in his own way after leaving WWE and carving a path for himself, there are huge similarities with Cody Rhodes as well.

Both the stars were struggling at the time they left the company, but once they did they found their place in the indies and became even bigger stars than they had been inside the company.

While The American Nightmare is now back in WWE and the Undisputed WWE Champion, fans will have to wait and see if Cardona returns as well, or if he has something else in mind.
