The WWE star shared the unfortunate news on social media

WWE star Shawn Spears shared a personal loss he suffered last week over social media. He also gave some hard-hitting advice following on from it.

The former AEW wrestler returned to WWE recently and has made himself a force to be reckoned with since then, appearing in NXT and picking up key wins. While the viciousness with which he has assaulted his opponents has left them unsure of what's happening, he's also set his sights on potential title reigns. However, breaking character, the star shared a loss he suffered recently.

Shawn Spears said he lost his best friend of 20 years last week. The star was answering questions from fans on social media and focused on a fan who asked him if he had any advice for a first-time dad.

The 43-year-old answered that his friend who passed had left behind young boys. He added that the friend had been battling cancer for a long time, and one of the last texts he had sent Spears was a reminder to love his babies.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

"Last week, a friend of mine of roughly 20 years passed away after a year long battle with cancer. He left behind young boys. One of the very last texts he sent me, was a piece of fatherly advice that I will pass along to you all now: “Love your babies man. Love them hard.”"

Shawn Spears recently suffered his first loss since returning to WWE

The WWE star suffered a loss recently when he faced Dijak. The two kicked off a March episode of NXT, but he would not come away with the win.

Joe Gacy appeared from under the ring and took Shawn Spears' chair, confusing him. This was enough for Dijak to take advantage of the distraction and win after hitting him with the Superkick and the Feast Your Eyes finisher.

It was his first loss since returning to the company, and he had been mostly dominating until then.

We at Sportskeeda send our condolences to Spears following the tragic loss.
