Former WWE Superstar Buff Bagwell shared some unfortunate news on his official YouTube channel. Bagwell announced that his father, Steve Bagwell, passed away on October 12th, at the age of 79.

Buff made his name in WCW, performing for the promotion from 1991 to 2001. He was one of several stars whose contracts were bought by WWE after purchasing WCW. He wrestled just one match in WWE against Booker T before being released in July 2001.

On his official YouTube channel, the 54-year-old veteran announced the death of his father, Steve, over the weekend. He had nothing but love and respect for his dad, reliving the good old times with him.

"The stories of my father, there's a couple really bad on that happened along the way, but man, 98% of my life growing up under my father, Steve Bagwell, was wonderful. It was absolutely wonderful," Bagwell said. [From 0:25 - 0:40]

Buff Bagwell told stories about his father, from his time as a kid to being a self-made millionaire despite being a high school dropout. Bagwell also remembered going deer hunting with his dad when he was growing up.

Steve Bagwell was survived by his three sons, including Buff and John. His wife, Judy, who became an on-screen character in WCW, passed away on November 5, 2021.

Buff Bagwell returned to the ring earlier this year

After his release from WWE, Buff Bagwell continued to wrestle on the Independent Circuit across the United States. Bagwell also performed for other promotions abroad, like in Canada and the United Kingdom.

The five-time WCW World Tag Team Champion has wrestled sporadically since 2020, with his most prominent appearance being at Joey Janela's Spring Break 6 Part 2 for GCW two years ago. He recently returned to the ring at Championship Wrestling From Memphis event in April.

Bagwell teamed up with Big John Dalton to beat Lord Gaston and Sir Matthew to become the new CWFM Tag Team Champions. They would later vacate their title without defending them. It was also his first championship since winning the Mayhem Heavyweight Title on October 27, 2018.

We at Sportskeeda Wrestling send our condolences to the Bagwell family. Our hearts go out to Buff and his family during this time of sorrow.
