Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Drew McIntyre confronting Wade Barrett this week on RAW. The Scottish Warrior wanted to clarify a few issues with his friend.
Barrett came into focus this week as Drew McIntyre called him out. He questioned the former Nexus leader's intentions and said that things would not go down well the next time he tried to stop Drew from hammering CM Punk. Just as things were heating up, General Manager Adam Pearce came down to the ring and took charge of proceedings.
This week on Legion of RAW, Russo pointed out that as a color commentator Barrett needed to be over the top with his gimmick. In the conversation, Dr. Chris Featherstone named some talents such as Jerry "The King" Lawler, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and Jesse Ventura who nailed the color commentator role. The veteran writer felt Barrett needed to borrow a few tricks from their playbook.
"I think a color commentator needs to be over the top. Listen, I have nothing against Wade Barrett. I think he's a solid talent. He's not over the top as a color commentator," Russo said. [From 42:56 onwards]
RAW GM Adam Pearce announced that Drew McIntyre will face CM Punk inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood next month.
It will be interesting to see who comes out with a win as the two stars try and settle their differences once and for all inside the unforgiving structure.
