WWE legend and Hollywood star The Rock recently received an award for his work outside the squared circle.
The Final Boss was a prominent feature of the build to the biggest WrestleMania extravaganza earlier this month. He made several TV appearances leading up to The Show of Shows. During WrestleMania weekend, The Rock was present for the Hall of Fame ceremony and then was on the card for both nights of the show.
Earlier this week, The Final Boss was bestowed with the Spirit of the Industry Award. In an Instagram post, he thanked Disney, NATO, and CinemaCon for the huge honor. This makes Johnson just the third person after the legendary Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas to be awarded this honor.
During his acceptance speech, the 51-year-old star thanked the industry for the award and claimed that entertaining the masses was very close to his heart. He was grateful for the opportunity to tell stories to people around the world and vowed to bring thrilling theatrical experiences through his work.
The People's Champ is currently working on upcoming projects such as Red One, and Moana 2.
The Rock promised to return to WWE soon
Ever since he became a member of the TKO Board of Directors, The Rock played an impactful role in pushing the envelope for WWE. He helped business peak during WrestleMania season through his TV appearances and by creating buzz on social media.
During his recent appearance on WWE RAW the night after 'Mania, The Great One had an intense confrontation with Cody Rhodes. He told Cody that his story with The Final Boss had just begun and there would be more encounters between the two in the future.
