Tony D'Angelo has earned another spot in WWE history. As he approaches the four-year mark in his WWE career, the leader of The D'Angelo Family pulled off a shocking achievement this week, thanks to help from his stablemates. New information has now revealed why Tony D has set a new record, and how he is poised to make even bigger history down the line.
The Don of NXT kicked off his first North American Championship reign by defeating Oba Femi on tonight's live episode. D'Angelo ended Femi's record 273-day reign in a 14-minute match that included interference by The Family. D'Angelo is now in his second singles championship reign as he held the Heritage Cup Championship for ninety days earlier this year. He also held the NXT Tag Team Championship with Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo for eighty-six days in 2023, and then again for ninety-one days beginning that same year.
Tony D made WWE history tonight as the first superstar to win NXT's Tag Team Championship, Heritage Cup, and North American Championship. If the 29-year-old is able to win the NXT Championship, he will become the brand's third Triple Crown Champion and its inaugural Grand Slam Champion.
Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole are the only NXT Triple Crown Champions so far. They both earned the crown by winning the brand's main championship, North American Championship, and Tag Team Championship. Tyler Bate is the only NXT UK Triple Crown Champion. His accolade came after winning NXT UK's main title, the Tag Team Championship, and the Heritage Cup.
