Cody Rhodes is the cornerstone of WWE today. He needed the Undisputed WWE Championship to validate his storied career. The American Nightmare has now reached a significant milestone as champion.
Cody fulfilled his late father Dusty Rhodes' dream of becoming a WWE World Champion by dethroning Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania XL Night 2. Since then, the 39-year-old Superstar has faced a litany of challengers for his title. From AJ Styles to Solo Sikoa, Cody Rhodes solidified his fairytale run with victories over a blend of established and up-and-coming talents.
Rhodes' last title defense was against Solo Sikoa during the recent UK tour on November 6. This marked his 50th title defense overall, including his matches on PLEs, weekly TV, dark matches, and house shows. Having 50 successful title defenses within a year of winning the gold is an incredible feat. Hence, congratulations are in order for The American Nightmare.

What's next for Cody Rhodes ahead of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames?
Cody Rhodes is currently in the midst of a deeply personal rivalry with Kevin Owens. The Prizefighter felt betrayed and snapped at The American Nightmare after Bad Blood when the latter joined forces with Roman Reigns, who made KO's life a living hell for the last four years.
Kevin Owens did the same to Randy Orton and used a Piledriver on him, putting him on the shelf for the foreseeable future. The Canadian wrestler faced the repercussions for using a banned move and has been suspended indefinitely.
Cody Rhodes wants to avenge Randy Orton and has warned the SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis that he wouldn't wait for long. Kevin Owens will return to SmackDown this Friday for a face-to-face segment with The American Nightmare.
With Survivor Series: WarGames right around the corner, it will be interesting to see if a long-awaited rematch between the two former friends will be on the cards.
