Kevin Owens is widely regarded as one of the best all-around, pound-for-pound pro wrestlers going today. The versatile grappler built a noteworthy career long before he joined WWE, and since then, Owens has become something of a household name. The celebratory and congratulatory well-wishes have been flooding in for hours as today marks a major happening for KO and his fans in the WWE Universe.

The Prizefighter began his pro wrestling journey at age 14, and in his first three years, he was training under WWE Performance Center coach Terry Taylor and former WWE Intercontinental Champion Jacques Rougeau, among others. The Canadian grappler had successful runs in CZW, IWS, PWG, and ROH before signing with WWE on August 12, 2014. After reporting to NXT and the Performance Center on August 25, the three-time PWG World Champion shot teaser vignettes in November to build to his in-ring debut at the next TakeOver special.

Today marks 10 years since KO made his WWE in-ring debut at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution on December 11, 2014. He defeated CJ Parker, aka Juice Robinson, in the three-minute opener, then attacked longtime friend and tag team partner Sami Zayn after the main event.

KO has not commented publicly on today's big career milestone as of this writing. WWE has not made one of their typical tribute posts as of this writing, but they did feature Owens in the latest WWE Retrospective. Seen below, the 43-minute episode features Kevin Owens looking back at his WWE run, with stories about Chris Jericho, John Cena, Becky Lynch, WrestleMania, and more.

Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?

Wrestling's Worst Nightmare set a WWE record stemming from his attack on Zayn at TakeOver that night, and this led to a big title change. R Evolution saw Sami capture the NXT Championship from Adrian Neville, aka PAC, but exactly two months later, Owens dethroned Zayn at TakeOver: Rival. The win made Kevin Owens the quickest Superstar to become NXT Champion from the day of their debut. The record was finally broken by Ethan Page this past July.

Kevin Owens set for major title match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

Kevin Owens is looking to become a 10-time champion in WWE this weekend. The veteran star will challenge Cody Rhodes for his Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event, airing live on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. ET from Long Island, NY.

KO vs. Rhodes was booked after Owens recently turned on his friend. Their first title match saw the champion retain in 26 minutes at Bash in Berlin on August 31, a match suggested by Cody as he wanted to reward his then-friend.

SNME will mark the fifth-ever Cody vs. KO singles match. Cody Rhodes won a RAW dark match in April 2022 and defeated Kevin Owens by count-out two weeks later. Cody won a SmackDown dark match in May 2022, but their next singles match didn't take place until Bash in Berlin this past August.
