A top champion has suffered a massive injury, which rendered the star unable to wrestle. However, it appears that despite the injury keeping the star out of the ring, she will not be relinquishing her title anytime soon.
On the January 3 match at Marigold's First Dream event, Kouki Amarei defended her title. During the match, she tore her ACL and will be taking time away as a result. She is the inaugural GHC Women's Champion.
In a press conference by Dream Star Fighting Marigold, Amarei informed reporters that she was going to be missing multiple months due to her ACL injury. However, she made a surprising claim, saying that she was aiming to return by May, which is unusual, given that ACL injuries can take anywhere between 6-9 months to heal and sometimes take over a year.
The star also informed everyone that she was not relinquishing the GHC Women's Championship despite not being able to wrestle and would be holding onto it unless she was ordered to give it up.
The 27-year-old will be going through surgery on January 16, after which she will go through PRP therapy to speed up the process. It remains to be seen if the therapy will help her to return and wrestle by May.
