A popular WWE Superstar claimed that she was moved to tears by the crowd at a recent show. The name in question is current WWE Women's Champion Bayley.
The Role Model defeated her former stablemate IYO SKY at WrestleMania XL to win the WWE Women's Championship. Her most recent title defense was against Piper Niven at Clash at the Castle: Scotland. The 35-year-old retained her title in a hard-fought contest, which also had interference from the challenger's teammate, Chelsea Green.
While speaking to Metro.co.uk ahead of the recently concluded premium live event, Bayley shared her experience during a previous title defense against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton in a Triple-Threat match. The first-ever WWE Women's Grand Slam Champion locked horns with the two superstars at Backlash: France.
During the interview, the former Damage CTRL leader claimed that she was moved to tears by the crowd in attendance at the show
"That match with Naomi and Tiffany [Stratton], not only did I have so much fun in that match, but that crowd – I was moved to tears afterwards. It was so special. That’s what I’m looking forward to this weekend as well. Literally, leading into that pay-per-view on the plane, I was just feeling so defeated and down, just a little run down," she said.
Bayley further explained how positive energy from fans can help performers lift themselves:
"We don’t have off seasons here, so as excited I was to perform and defend the title, I was just a little mentally run down. But at SmackDown [on the first night], that fricking crowd just lifts you up. It’s so real when we say you guys give us energy and give us life. It’s so real to us, to our bodies – physically and emotionally. It’s what keeps us going, and that is what I needed." [H/T: Metro.co.uk]
Bayley sends a thank you message to WWE fans
Bayley turned babyface earlier this year for the first time since 2019. She instantly became a crowd favorite and has been getting massive support from the fans since.
The Role Model received loud cheers from the crowd during her match with Piper Niven at Clash at the Castle despite the show being in the latter's home country. Bayley also turned 35 the same day as her title defense against the former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.
After the show, she took to X/Twitter to thank the fans for making her day special:
Bayley has now held the title for just over 70 days. Nia Jax will challenge for the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam. The Irresistible Force got the opportunity after winning the Queen of the Ring Tournament last month. It will be interesting to see if Jax can take the title off the champion.
