The Motor City Machine Guns captured the WWE Tag Team Championships from The Bloodline's Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa on the October 25 episode of SmackDown. Jey Uso got involved in the match after Solo Sikoa's faction cost him the Intercontinental Championship on RAW, and MCGM emerged victorious.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin defended their titles against The Street Profits this past Friday night on SmackDown, but the match ended in a No Contest after Tommaso Ciampa interfered.
Former WWE manager highlights the one thing holding The Motor City Machine Guns back
Wrestling legend Dutch Mantell recently shared his thoughts on The Motor City Machine Guns' run in the company so far.
Speaking on the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk show, the veteran noted that the duo were a very talented tag team. However, Mantell claimed that Alex Shelley was a more entertaining performer than Chris Sabin and that he should serve as the mouthpiece for the tag team moving forward:
"They are a very talented tag team," Mantell said. "The only thing I think holding them back is Alex is very, very entertaining. Chris Sabin, he's not as entertaining. In the work-rate he is, but in the interview style Alex is their mouthpiece. So, I think if they stay with that, we'll see where it leads." [2:02 – 2:36]

Tommaso Ciampa has become obsessed with recapturing the WWE Tag Team Championships and recently scolded Johnny Gargano for having a friendly conversation with The Motor City Machine Guns. It will be interesting to see what the company has planned for Shelley and Sabin in the weeks ahead on SmackDown.
