Damage CTRL gets ambushed by current WWE champions on RAW

This week’s episode of WWE RAW saw Damage CTRL out to get revenge against Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark, and Sonya Deville. Apparently, the trio, who recently named themselves Pure Fusion Collective, ambushed Dakota Kai ahead of her match on RAW and injured her by focusing their blows on her surgically repaired knee. However, the newly-turned babyface faction failed to get their revenge because of an unexpected attack by current WWE champions.

Deville sat out for this match as Baszler and Stark teamed up to face Damage CTRL's Kairi Sane and IYO SKY. Dakota Kai’s injury while Asuka is also out on a medical hiatus is a big blow to Damage CTRL. With the faction’s numbers reduced in half, IYO SKY and Kairi Sane were determined to make the newly named faction pay. But, their plans were foiled by WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn.

Notably, The Unholy Union was watching the match from the ringside since the winners would have gained the status of number one contenders for their tag title. However, Alba Fyre got caught with a kick from Zoey Stark, which was meant for IYO SKY.

The Damage CTRL member quickly used her opponent’s mistake to end things with an Over The Moonsault. However, the match ended in disqualification as Fyre and Isla Dawn entered the ring and broke the pinfall.

The tag team champions ambushed all the wrestlers in the ring and didn’t side with either of their potential opponents. The official tweet by WWE claims that neither side won the match but several fans argue that Damage CTRL must be given the win since SKY was the wrestler attacked first by Isla Dawn.

It would be interesting to see if the babyface faction gets the number one contender status for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
