He may be one of the most recognizable pro wrestling superstars in WWE history, but Hulk Hogan indeed wasn't wholly accepted by the fans in California. Following the crowd's reaction, Vince Russo felt Hogan would need to rethink about appearing on wrestling TV.

Hulk Hogan's wrestling career and controversies outside the ring need no introduction. Despite being involved in legal troubles throughout the years, Hogan remains a well-known figure in and outside the business. In recent years, he has become more involved with WWE.

On RAW's debut episode on Netflix, Hulk Hogan came out with long-time manager Jimmy Hart and delivered a promo amid loud boos from the fans inside the Intuit Dome.

During Legion of RAW, Vince Russo speculated how a performer of Hogan's stature would have felt when he went backstage after his segment and agreed that the WWE Hall of Famer would have felt defeated.

"Let me ask you a serious question. You're the psychologist. I'm going to ask you to put yourself in the boots of Hulk Hogan. How did he really feel when he went to the back? [Defeated] Yeah," Russo said. (From 1:07:53 onwards)

Vince Russo, a pro wrestling veteran, admitted that he knew he had to retire, something many of his peers and colleagues never realized. He cited Stone Cold Steve Austin's example and believed The Texas Rattlesnake wasn't active in pro wrestling because he knew when to leave the spotlight.

In Hulk Hogan's case, Vince Russo felt that the WWE legend would personally need to make the hard decision to avoid appearing on major national television for a wrestling show.

"A year from now, I'll be 65, and bro, it's like I just know that's my time to walk away. These guys just don't experience that at all. I think Austin has. I think that's part of not seeing him in this arena anymore. I think that's part of me. It's amazing to me, I've seen people getting up in their 70s and just not knowing when it's weird bro. If I'm Hulk, and I'm experiencing that at this point in my career, something's got to tell me, 'Brother, maybe it's time.'" [1:09:45 onwards]

Considering his influence, Hulk Hogan would have ideally expected to get unanimous cheers upon his return to WWE TV. The plan seemingly backfired and it would be interesting if we see more of The Hulkster moving forward.
