WWE Universe loved to hate Dominik Mysterio until his recent turn on Rhea Ripley. The second-generation superstar is seemingly a full-fledged heel now that he's chosen Liv Morgan. Dominik had an interesting take after being given the chance to credit a certain Hall of Famer on a major platform.
The self-proclaimed Most Dangerous Man in WWE began training in 2018 at the age of 21 with his father, Rey Mysterio, and Jay Lethal. He joined the promotion in early 2019. Rey's pro wrestling journey started in 1989 at the age of 14, when he was trained by his uncle, Rey Misterio, in Mexico. After being named Most Improved Wrestler in 1991, Rey debuted for AAA in 1992, ECW in 1995, and WCW in 1996.
Dirty Dom was interviewed by Logan Paul and Mike Majlak on IMPAULSIVE earlier today. The Maverick's co-host asked The Judgment Day member if he wanted to give his father his flowers by shining a spotlight on him to give him the credit everyone knows is due. Dominik gave his legendary father some credit but did not miss the chance to take shots as well.
"I'd love to, and I'm not gonna take away anything that he's done... for his height and his size, and for what he looks like, he's done a good job for himself, but... what was he doing when he was four years into the business? Not what I'm doing... It's hard to compare myself to him because I'm so much better than him already and taller, better looking," Dominik Mysterio said. [From 9:35 to 10:05]
Dominik continued and declared himself to be the greatest Mysterio of all time. He gave Rey more credit but said he felt like he would take things to a higher level.
"I'm 27. I'm pretty sure by 27, he already had four-five knee surgeries, just on his left knee, so he was already cooked by the time he was in his 30s. He needs help... I'm here. I'm good to go, the greatest Mysterio of all time... Like I said, I'm gonna give him his credit for what he's done, and for how he's done it, and for the Latino culture, but I just feel like I'm going to take it to the next level," Dominik Mysterio said. [From 10:10 to 10:43]
Dominik became the youngest Superstar to win the WWE Tag Team Championship when he and his father dethroned Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at WrestleMania Backlash in 2021. They dropped the gold 62 days later to The Usos at Money in the Bank.
Rey Mysterio's last WWE TV match was more than one month ago
Rey Mysterio was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023. He has been open about his in-ring career winding down but has remained an active competitor on the main roster.
The Master of The 619 has been off WWE TV for over a month. His last match came on July 8, where he teamed with Zelina Vega for a RAW main event loss to Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan. This match came one week after Rey's singles win over Dominik.
It remains to be seen when WWE will bring Rey back to TV. The former WCW star worked at both live events in Mexico last month and at all three shows in Japan.
