Rey Misterio Sr. has tragically passed away at the age of 66. The wrestling legend from Tijuana, Mexico is responsible for launching the career of his nephew - Rey Mysterio. Misterio trained the WWE Hall of Famer and then permitted him to use his name. The two-time AAA champion used a wheelchair for recent appearances and had been dealing with health issues for several months.
Dirty Dom took to Instagram today to honor his great uncle. The 27-year-old son of Rey Mysterio shared several rare photos of Rey Misterio Sr. from his career and captioned the tribute with just one black heart emoji.

Misterio Sr. opened a gym with other lucha stars in 1987, and trained names like Konnan, Psicosis, The Warlord, Damian 666, and Halloween, among others. Starrcade 1990 saw Konnan and Rey Sr. team up for The Pat O'Connor International Tag Team Tournament. They defeated Chris Adams and Norman Smiley in the opening round but then lost to The Steiner Brothers.
Dominik Mysterio receives new nickname on WWE RAW
Rhea Ripley has continued her heated rivalry with Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. Monday's WWE RAW saw Ripley give her former flame a new nickname.
The Eradicator confronted The Judgment Day's happy couple on RAW to taunt them ahead of the upcoming World Women's Championship match. Ripley went viral for the new nickname she labeled Dirty Dom with: Liv's Chicken Tender S**t.
The RAW Netflix premiere on January 6 will see Rhea Ripley challenge Liv Morgan for the World Women's Championship one more time, and Dominik Mysterio will be present. Liv retained over Rhea at SummerSlam in early August, then retained at Bad Blood in October but Ripley won by DQ.
